Nana Michelle Aloha Recipes Fried Apples with Cinnamon Coffee Cake

I posted a recipe link on my Nana Michelle Aloha Recipes Facebook page a while back from for Easy Fruit Coffee Cake and I played with the recipe and ended up with my twist to it that was such a huge hit it never made it out to our coffee night because the pregnant neighbor downstairs came up and said she was craving what I had been baking and it was making her crazy because she knew it couldn’t be bought in any store. LOL how could I refuse a request for some like that! We cut this in half and gave her enough to satisfy her craving and went about our way giggling at the cuteness of it all and happy we made someone happy with a memory that will never be forgotten.

Nana Michelle’s Fried Apples with Cinnamon Coffee Cake
1 (18 oz. pkg.) Pillsbury Moist Supreme Golden Butter Recipe Cake Mix
3 eggs
2 (15 0z.) cans of Luck’s Fried Apples with Cinnamon Pie Filling (Fat free)
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup of flaked coconut
1/2 cup butter, melted

1. In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, eggs and the Pie filling (I had 2 (15 0z. cans so I used all the fruit but drained about 3/4 of the liquid out of the second can).
2. Pour the mix into a greased and floured 9×13 inch pan
3. Combine the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and coconut.
4. Sprinkle over the top of the cake.
5. Pour the melted butter over the top of the cake.
6. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
7. Take the cake out and let it cool to set the topping.

Original recipe called for 1 (18 ounce) yellow cake mix
1 (21 ounce) any pie filling and instead of coconut it called for a cup of chopped nuts. Other than those substitutions it was mixed and baked the same as the original recipe.
